Part 1 How to Search Filters on Instagram in Effects Gallery

The first way to find a filter effect on Instagram is making use of the Effect Gallery. You can choose from among the available categories or find them using the search feature.

Here's how to search for filters for your Instagram story in the Effects Gallery.

Step 1

Launch the Instagram app first, and then tap on Your Story at the top left corner of the screen from your feed page of Instagram.

Step 2

Swipe left through the icons at the bottom of the screen until you land on the "Browse Effects" option, represented by a magnifying glass, and tap it to open the Effect Gallery.

You can tap one of the filters you see or swipe through the categories at the top of the app. To search for the filter, tap the magnifying glass and then type the filter name/keyword.

When you find your desired one, tap it to try and wait for the preview, then you can tap the download icon at the bottom right to save the filter to your camera.

When the filter is saved, the arrow icon will change to a checkmark. Now just go back to the camera, and swipe right on the icons at the bottom of the screen to find the new filter you just saved.

Part 2 How to Find Filters on Instagram from Creators' Profile

Another easy way to find a filter effect is searching a filter through the creator's profile if you know who created the Instagram filter.

Step 1

Go to the search engine by clicking on the search icon at the bottom of your screen, and search the creator's profile by typing their username.

Step 2

Once you've accessed the creator's profile, tap the smiley above their grid to open the filters section.

Now, you should see all the filters that the creator has made, tap the filter you want, then tap Try It, or tap the down arrow to download the filter.

After that, you can snap a photo or record a video with the filter, then share it with your friends.

Part 3 How to Get Filters on Instagram from Friends

Notice a cool filter effect in your friend's Instagram story and you want to try it for yourself? So here comes the third way, you can explore new filters from your friends and use them in your post and story.

Simply go to your friend's post with that filter you want to try out, and tap the filter's name, right below the person's name, at the bottom of the screen, then tap the Try It option for using the Filter right now or select the save option to save the effect for later use.

Instagram also allows users to send filter effect to others, so you can ask your friends to send you the filter you want. It's pretty easy to send a filter effect on Instagram, simply go to the filter in the camera, tap the filter's name at the bottom of the screen, and tap Send To.
