Make a Vertical Split Screen Video in Premiere Pro

Step 1

Launch Premiere Pro and create a new project. Drag and drop all your video clips to the editing panel.

Click on the new item icon, choose sequence.

Swap to Settings > Video > Frame Size. Change to horizontal to 1080, and the vertical to 1920. This is a standard dimension for a 9:16 video. You can change it to other dimensions as long as the width to the height is 9:16. Confirm the change.

Step 4

Go up to the right corner, select vertical. This will bring you a bigger working space.

Go up to view near the working space, click on Show Rulers, and Show Guides. The rulers will help you to find the perfect place to do split screen.

Move the horizontal guideline to where you want the split starts. For example, if you are creating a 3 split-screen video, you should move the horizontal guideline to 640, which is the 3/1 of the height. You can also click on the guideline, select Edit. Input 640 and confirm.

Drag the video clips into the timeline. A notification would appear asking if you want to keep the settings. Select Keep existing settings.

Select one of the video clip, go to Effect Controls, move the clip to where it belongs.

Go to Effects, search for Crop. Double apply to the video clip. Click and drag the video clip. The video is cropped.
