Part 1 How to Change Instagram Story Background Color to a Different Color

If you want to give your Insta story a new background, the easiest way is to change your background to a solid color. Here, we'll share two ways for you to change the default background to another color on Instagram Story with the Pen tool and Eraser Tool.

Using the Pen Tool to Change the Background Color on Instagram Story

Step 1

Open the Stories, and click on your gallery to select any image or take a random photo directly.

On the story draft screen, use two fingers to resize your image and adjust its location. Then, click the scribble icon on the top of the screen.

Step 3

Select the pen tool if you want a solid color background, or the highlighter tool if you want a translucent background.

Step 4

Select your desired color with the color dropper tool or choose from the default color options.

Step 5

Press and hold the screen for a couple of seconds until the whole screen color change to the one you selected. Then click "done".

Step 6

Now, you can add the photo or video over the new background. Simply tap on the stickers icon, and select the "camera roll" sticker.

Step 7

Resize your image or video clip and place it over the top of the other image, so that it is clearly visible above your new background color, and you can also add text or emojis anywhere you like.

Using the Eraser Tool to Change the Background Color on Instagram Story

Besides using the pen tool to change your Ins Story background color, the Eraser Tool also works perfectly in changing the background color of your Instagram Story. Here's how:

Step 1

Open your Instagram Story tool to upload the image you want to share.

Step 2

Use the Pen tool or Highlighter tool to add a "full-color fill" or a "transparent overlay" to your photo.

Step 3

Tap the "eraser tool" from the top menu, the fifth icon from the left.

Once you've selected the eraser tool, tap and drag on the portion of the photo to reveal the particular thing in the picture that you want to show to others.

Part 2 How to Change Instagram Story Background Color to a Pre-made Background

Don't want to limit your Instagram story background to a simple color? You can also change your story background to the pre-made specific background image. Here’s how to use a specific image as your Instagram background:

Step 1

Open your Instagram Story tool.

Step 2

Select the photo gallery icon in the bottom left corner of the story screen to upload your background image.

Step 3

Use two fingers to expand the background image to cover the entire story screen.

Step 4

Place stickers, text, hashtags, Gifs, and emojis over the background to personalize it even more. (You can also add another image on top with the Sticker feature.)
